The Artist: a salute to the silent movie

At the age of 3 D movies nowadays, “The Artist” is definitely one which really fresh people’s eye. That is not because how deep connotation it contains but its artistic innovation in form.  Jean Dujardin has to be mentioned. Without dialogue, only depending on the gesture and emotional expression, he accurately catches the performance of a silent film, and makes the movie humorous and full of connotation. His performance definitely highlights this nostalgic movie, and you can find the shadow of Gene Kelly and Gibert Roland in it. So, this also is not just a performance, but also his salute to movie actors and also reduces the essence of movie.

The Artist, with its simple stories, hides complex feelings. It is not so simply a black and white silent film but shows the impact of development of the film industry on the world and people. The director turns his emotion to movie into a form of nostalgia; it is like a love letter, full of romantic aroma, also endowed with elegant style. You will stand up to applaud silently in laughter and tears, since it’s really quite well.
